Hospital Shadowing
The Ferrara program offers shadowing in both medical and surgical specialties at Arcispedale Sant’Anna, the region’s largest hospital and a teaching center affiliated with the University of Ferrara.
With over 500 years of history, the hospital is especially known for excellence in cardiology, earning a spot on Newsweek’s 2023 list of the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals. It also offers care across fields like oncology, general surgery, and ophthalmology.
A unique “Silence Room” adds a thoughtful touch, reflecting its patient-centered approach. Students can also explore nearby Bologna, adding cultural and networking opportunities to the experience.

*Note that program start date listed is always a Sunday and your housing is available from that day. The first day of shadowing is the Monday after move in day. The last day of the program stated is always a Saturday and housing is booked for you up until this morning. The last day of shadowing is the Thursday of that week. The last Friday is kept for final packing and personal tasks, therefore you can checkout on Friday instead of Saturday if that is preferable for you.
