Experience Global Health in Italy
Doctors in Italy was born with an ambitious goal: to internationalize healthcare in Italy, by eliminating language barriers and promoting exchanges and connections in the global healthcare community.
This experience abroad combines the best of two worlds: professional growth through clinical observation and cross-cultural competence through immersion in a different culture. The program promotes personal growth, leadership development, social responsibility, multicultural awareness, and intellectual curiosity, encouraging participants to learn more about themselves through the experience.
Is the program right for me?
Our programs welcome students pursuing careers in pre-med, medicine, nursing, physical therapy, public health, and physician assistant studies.
Many of our students leverage their Doctors in Italy shadowing experiences for college and graduate application essays and interviews, and some of our alumni have gone on to enter the most prestigious medical programs in the United States.
You just need to be 18 or older—there's no upper age limit, so everyone's welcome!

Pick the program length that works best for you — stay for 2, 3, 4, or 5 weeks of shadowing in one amazing city from our list of 10+ locations. Join us in winter or summer and make it fit your schedule!
⚕️ Explore Multiple Specialties!
Observe at least 5 areas of medicine — from surgery to specialties like cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, oncology, dermatology, and more!

Work side-by-side with doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals from across the world, picking up real-world skills and confidence along the way. It's the perfect blend of learning and exploring.

Get 40+ hours of real-life training—spend your days observing healthcare experts, caring for different patients and performing different procedures.
🌍 Explore Italy
Whether it's Rome, Florence, Bologna, or one of our other incredible locations, our local coordinators have you covered— learning, city adventures, amazing food, and memories that'll last a lifetime (gelato included).
🤝 Extra Info
Runs mid-November to mid-February, and mid-May to mid-August — perfect for summer break students! All activities are in English, with local support for housing, transport, insurance, fun excursions, and 24/7 staff help.
