FAQ
Hi, how can we help you?
Do I need to speak Italian?
You don’t need to know Italian because all of our city managers and most doctors speak English.
We still encourage you to spend some time pre-departure learning a few basic words and sentences. It will be fun to practice, and you’ll be better able to build a connection with the local population.
Is this ethical shadowing AAMC compliant?
The program is fully compliant with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) guidelines for undergraduate shadowing. The purpose of your experience is to observe, learn, and grow as a person and future professional.
What are the hours of shadowing?
You will be shadowing for four days a week, with approximately five hours of shadowing per day, for a total of about 20 hours of shadowing per week.

Within 10 days, you’ll receive a response about your application.
What day should I plan to arrive on?

The 5-week programs in Rome have a different structure, so if this is your program check with your admissions coordinator.
Will I get credit and transcripts for the program?
Regardless of the program you choose, you will get a certificate for the exact number of shadowing hours. If you are enrolled in a program for credit (the 4 and 5-week programs offer this option) you will gain 3 credits from a US institution. For shorter programs, check with your home University if they will be able to award you credit for the experience.
What should I wear when shadowing a doctor?
You should choose clothes and shoes that allow you to be comfortable yet look professional. A “business casual” style would be appropriate in most cases. If you’re unsure about what to wear, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and choose conservative clothing.
